I started looking at this today because I could not get Mod_owa from http://www.sharemation.com/~dmcmahon/modowa.htm site seems to be down so I took some time out to look at the The EXTJS framework, well it is excellent (I have only spent an hour looking at it). Very simple component / widget  / javascript wrapper (with a very impressive look and feel) creation all working with Javascript and CSS. If you are looking for a nice component / widget and a JS wrapper all in one tool outside of Oracle and Microsoft or any of the Enterprise guys development toolset then this might be for you. If you want to create impressive RIA applications then again this might be for you. If you are familiar at all with a Javascript framework then this will be no bother to you. Even if you are not this will not be difficult to master. I plan to spend loads of more time working on some tutorials, check this very nice Grid example out here.

I simply installed the latest Apache version 2.2.15 today, changed a few directories variables in HTTPD.conf, followed the tutorial examples above and away you go.  I said a while back when being trained on JDeveloper 11G ADF why have Oracle created such a beast when all you want are nice components. EXTJS gives you the independence and empowers you with beautiful RIA components.

I better stop looking at loads of different frameworks and concentrate on one or two. Over the coming weeks I am going to work on EXTJS and Windows mobile 7 series development. Will leave ASP.NEt to the side for a while as I don’t see me or my company utilizing ASP.Net in the near future. Previously my plan was to work on ASP.Net but this is now on the back burner.
